… Unfortunately, despite numerous efforts to communicate the facts, we still witness the romanticizing of the past taking shape through the rise of new leaders on the international political and economic stage; leaders drawing in millions of people who – in the vain hope of a better life – look to these figures as guides, messiahs, or saviors of the nation… without, however, having the slightest idea where they are actually being led… namely, toward a society profoundly different from the current one… a repressive, stratified, and insular society… a society where nothing can be taken for granted and where everything must be earned… even freedom… yes, freedom… freedom of expression, of speech, of the press, of assembly, and of life itself…!

And indeed, once this bubble of social illusion bursts, it will give way to emptiness, bewilderment, annihilation…!

And this is precisely what needs to be conveyed… namely what would happen if this new society were truly to come about… creating a scenario of despair, devastation, and socio-cultural regression that could only lead to a downward spiral.

That is why we must change course now, while the seeds are still sprouting, rather than battling a monster of gargantuan proportions – sometime in the near future – when our strength might be depleted and hope might have become a distant mirage.

And that is why we must shed light on what is already happening and on what may yet come to pass, hoping once again to kindle that fire of life that dwells within each of us… that fire of hope that guides us through the most difficult choices… that fire of freedom that enables us to react, to fight, and to defeat…!
